Trystan Sampilo

LMHCA

Hi friends!

My name is Trystan Sampilo, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Washington (LMHCA).

As a counselor, I am grateful to live out my life’s calling of helping others find and support their truest self. The values I hold most dear to me that inform my session are connection, humor/play, meaningful work, excellence, and happiness. Using these values as a guiding compass, I am extremely passionate about curiously exploring how to best find your most authentic self.

I have a wide range of experience working with various diagnoses and populations. This includes folks struggling with anxiety, depression, and life stressors. I’ve truly enjoyed helping young adults struggling with finding themselves. This includes managing their feelings of never being good enough, perfectionism, self-esteem issues, inner criticism, and deeper existential issues of searching for meaning, identity, and purpose.

I enjoy working with minorities and people of color. Growing up in Spokane as a Filipino American, I’m familiar with feelings of isolation, not belonging, and being hyperaware of my racial differences. Any minority who has lived in similar places can attest to these experiences. I understand discriminatory experiences and enjoy helping others who are similarly struggling in this regard.

As a Filipino American, I understand the cultural pressures of “being perfect” to make your family proud. This common narrative of self-worth being tied to performance is something that I am intimately familiar with. Many of us, especially young adults, receive these indirect conditions of worth that leave us lost in terms of our own self-esteem. Who am I if I am not perfect/successful/helpful/the best? Our work together will help unravel this narrative and foster a sense of self-worth that is based on self-compassion and love.

My approach includes anything that supports the capacity of the real self. This entails acceptance, compassion, attachment work, self-esteem work, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Additionally, I have been trained in psychedelic modalities, specifically ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. I believe psychedelic therapies offer opportunities for deep, radical change and self-actualization.

If any of the above resonates with you, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to collaborating with you and supporting your journey to find your truest, most authentic self.
